Mechanical Collectors

GENERAL

Mechanical collectors are often considered as the first go-to technology for the reduction of ultra fine aggressive dust particulates in dust-laden exhaust streams or for the removal of excessive large dust particulates in the off-gas stream prior to the use of either ESP or Fabric Filter technology. The main advantage these devices have over other possible systems is that there are less moving components moving within them. This makes them suitable for many different applications and industries.

TECH BRIEF

The collecting efficiency of these units essentially depends on: the size of the dust particulates; the specific gravity of the dust; and the geometrical properties of the mechanical collector assembly. Mechanical collectors are suitable for medium collection efficiencies. That is, when the smallest particle size that can be efficiently collected is typically 10μm (depending on dust properties) and an expected typical pressure drop between 6 to 20 mbar.

Mechanical collectors can be also considered as a pre-filter device for an ESP or fabric filter installation. The removal of larger particles will help in the performance of the downstream equipment, and reduce the overall working load, and CAPEX costs.

BENEFITS

Our multi-cyclone assemblies are a low OPEX cost. The long service assembly is suitable for operating temperatures up to 400oC with highly abrasive dust. If you need to operate with temperatures in excess of 400oC, this can be discussed. Our standard cyclones are available in a wide range of suitable materials for all forms of gas conditions; that is, abrasive and gas temperatures up to approximately 1000o Celsius.
